Can You Describe A Movie In One Short Phrase?

In this game, you must describe each movie in a short phrase, no longer than 6 words (I just picked that number out of the air).  All are classics with their remakes ... some are not exactly remakes but films about the same story.  You don't have to judge which is better, but you can if you want to.  It should be a little challenging and interesting to see what you can say in a few words ...

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Fredric March and Fredric March
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Spencer Tracy and Spencer Tracy
Mutiny on the Bounty
Clark Gable and Charles Laughton
Mutiny on the Bounty
Marlon Brando and Trevor Howard

The Fly
David Hedison
The Fly
Jeff Goldblum
The Thing From Another World
James Arness
The Thing
Kurt Russell
Gunfight at the OK Corral
Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas
Wyatt Earp
Kevin Costner and Dennis Quaid
Tombstone
Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer

  4. Becky, let me see what I can do with this just off the top of my head.... (I'm doing this without a rehearsal, folks! :-))

    1.) Top hat and wails!

    2.) Two of a kind?

    3.) Mutiny on the Bounty -- a quicker picker-upper!

4.) All other Bountys are just water-logged!

5.) Scientists shouldn't play with web things!

6.) Jeff takes a dip in the plasma pool and gets in over his head!

    7.) Cool dialogue, chilling suspense!

8.) Cool F/X, cold night's death -- who goes there?

I'll stop here, as Westerns were never my strong suit! :-)

  7. Becky, I'm glad you enjoyed my mini-assessments of the movies for "One Short Phrase"! Everyone here did a great job, in fact! Thanks for suggesting this fun wordplay game, my friend!

Also, I LOVE your blog's new color scheme with blues and purples, with white letters on a black background! It's smart, stylish, and easy on my eyes! :-)

  8. I'm so tickled that you like my blog's new look. You know me -- I just get the yen to rearrange, re-color, and this time I thought I'd soften it a bit with other colors I love.

  9. Hi Becky, what a cool post. I've been wracking my brain but this is all I could come up with:

Jekyll Drinks Potion = Hyde Loco Motion.

    Wretched Sea Captain, Unhappy Sailors.

    Physicist Runs Afoul of Entomology.

    Human/Insect Switcheroo

Attack of the Seven Foot Vegetable

    Men in Black with Colts.

    I gave it a try. :)

  16. This is off topic, but I have chosen you for the next round of 6 Degrees of Separation. I have chosen the challenge of Grace Kelly and Charlie Chaplin. Go here to see how things are progressing: http://wp.me/p164Kr-xa
