I know this one ... I know I know it! It's ... wait a minute ... it's ... what is it?" |
Now I have movie-lovin' friends who will be able to name each movie from which the quotes come, as well as the actors who spoke them, the year the movie came out, and the cinematographer who shot the scene. I know some pretty smart people. To them I say, control yourself ... maybe don't give them all away with the first comment. It will be hard, but grit your teeth, gird your loins, and remember the most important lesson of kindergarten -- share with others. To the others, I hope you have fun figuring out the origins of the quotes. I'll watch the comments, of course, and fill in the information on any quotes that may go unrecognized.
I've sure missed all of you, and I'm glad to be back.
Well, it's good to have you back! I knew you were back from Facebook, but seeing you here makes it official. As I recall, you were moving. How's the new place?
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you, Rich! My new place is good -- I still have 6 boxes I haven't unpacked. I hide them, as they are my secret shame -- LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really should be asleep, but just as I was about to shut down the computer there she was on my blog list, the one and only Classic Becky. It made me think of this movie quote: "Oh God this makes me happy!" Name the film.
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes you chose for your heading and will lay claim to naming "Frankenstein" for "It's alive, it's alive!". I used that quote everyday when rousing my teenagers for school. It never got old. I could tell by the look on their faces.
Oh no, CW! I can't name that quote! As Charlie Chaplin says in the pic above, what is it?! I knew we had a lot in common -- I did the same thing with my two boys when they got to be teens. They would usually groan and roll over. I should have brought a cattle prod too, to give them the electricity that Frankenstein got to bring him to life!
DeleteGlad to see you back, Becky. I see A Streetcar Named Desire and Vivian Leigh up there.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Kim ... good to "see" you!
DeleteSo pleased to see you're back. Now the party can start.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jacqueline! I have the heavily-spiked punch and lampshades ready!
DeleteWelcome back Becky! I love the quotes! Especially my gal Bette's quote leading the parade. Poor Herbert Marshall, Bette breaks his heart when she utters the quote at end of "The Letter."
ReplyDeleteOh yes, one of the most selfish women in film, and one of the most heartbreaking men! Hope you and David are doing well.
DeleteBecky! Having you back is "the stuff that dreams are made of," which of course is from The Maltese Falcon, and spoken by the incomparable Humphrey Bogart. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thing to say, and a perfect segue into your correct answer! It's good to be back!
DeleteWell Lawdy Miss Clawdy, look who's back in town! I love the new color scheme (very cheery). Now the world seems right again>
ReplyDeleteLawdy Miss Clawdy ... how colloquial...LOL!! Thanks, Ms. Chick! I never think of using yellow, but I like it!
DeleteHooray! Glad to see you back! As soon as I arrived in the page, I read the quotes and couldn't guess only two of them.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon! Kisses!
Excellent ... if you ask me for the unknown 2, I'll tell you! I'm so glad to be back too!
DeleteHooray! I'm ecstatic to see you back and very much alive in your writing! I sympathize with you as I had to move into a new place. How are you doing in your new place? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a peach! Isn't moving a nightmare? I like to be in a new place, I just don't like getting there. It's really nice ... I think I chose well!
DeleteWelcome back, Becky! Of the quotes, I know these for sure: The Letter, Angels with Dirty Faces, The Maltese Falcon, Rebecca, Casablanca, A Streetcar Named Desire and Frankenstein (and possibly Young Frankenstein, too). More importantly, you're back at last.
ReplyDeletePerfecto! I know you know the other 2 -- as I told Le above, if you ask me, I'll tell you! I'm so glad to be back writing again!
DeleteI'll guess Robin Hood for one (based on knowledge of your love for Mr. Flynn) and the other is very familiar but I'm not sure. Tell me, please!
ReplyDeleteYes, The Great Flynn had to be in there -- "May I obey all your commands with equal pleasure, sire!" is indeed the last line of Robin Hood! The other quote, "Yes, I can be very cruel. I have been taught by masters" -- The Heiress, Olivia deHavilland. Boy she was chilling when she delivered that line!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Wuthering Heights came to mind first for some reason and I couldn't get past that. But The Heiress - of course!
DeleteHOORAY!!! Becky, we're so thrilled that you're back! We miss you when you're not around! I'd turn cartwheels for joy if I weren't such a klutz! :-D Welcome, back, dear friend and Big Sis! XOXO
ReplyDeleteThanks Madame Prez! You were missed too!
DeleteHooray! Welcome back!
ReplyDelete-- Java
Thanks Java! I'll be around!
DeleteAll I can say is it's about time, Becky!!!
ReplyDeleteToo right, Rick. Coming up with another post soon...
DeleteHmmm -- Blogger isn't letting me know about comments and giving me a hard time! Bad Blogger! You are too right, Rick -- it is about time...
DeleteGreat to see you back in the game again, Becky! I'm terrible at remembering movie quotes but even I got a couple of the ones on your masthead...thanks for throwing some easy ones in there for the quote-challenged.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeff! A couple of people have asked for the answers to the quotes, so I'm putting them in a little post today.
DeleteBecky, Errol and I are thrilled you are back. You've been missed.
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin -- you've been missed too!
