Haiku Competition -- Entry #2

I'm trying my hand at a little different type of haiku this time -- well, a lot different.  A tribute to my favorite, absolutely awful movie:

Worst movie on screen...
Cardboard props, poor dead Bela...
What?  No sequel?  Aww!

*Plan 9 From Outer Space*

This is an entry for the Best For Film Hollywood Haikus blogging competition. Enter now.

  1. Ha ha! Very cute. Good luck. I took a stab myself, but I am no poet!

  4. FlickChick, I told you already, but I love your haiku!

Page, you and I are usually on the same page! I love those old sci-fi stinkers.

Jen, so nice to meet you and have you visit my blog. I don't know how I missed yours either. Sometimes it's hard to get to all the CMBA blogs, but I'm glad I found yours!

  5. I bet you could, Doc. It just takes longer than you think -- it's pretty challenging to stay with the # of syllables allowed! You should try one about anime!

  7. Becky, your PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE haiku cracked me up! By the way, your encouragement inspired me to write two more Hollywood Haikus, both based on one of my favorite movies ever, CHARADE. I'll run them in my "Mother's Day Smorgasbord" blog post on Friday, along with my mom-oriented flash fiction, one of our favorite recipes, and a small anecdote about my late mom having had the good fortune to meet Marlene Dietrich in her dressing room after one of her 1950s cabaret performances. Hope you'll all enjoy it! And Becky, I'm also looking forward to the next installment of your movie gangster series.

  8. Thanks, Dorian. I love Plan 9 -- it's so terrible! I'm really looking forward to your Mother's Day post -- sounds great. My third and final gangster post will be on my blog sometimes this week ---- I've loved it, and am ready to do something different. Haven't decided what yet!

  9. Fantastic haiku, Becky! I'll be surprised if this isn't one of the finalists -- it captures the fun of the movie so perfectly! Thanks for letting us know about this contest, maybe I'll try my hand at some later today. I've always LOVED writing haiku.
