Rub-A-Dub-Dub ... 6 Stars In The Tub

October is my favorite month ... autumn in Indiana and horror movies on TCM.  I am working on entries for two blogathons this month:  Speakeasy's Val Lewton blogathon for which I am doing my take on I Walked With A Zombie; and the Classic TV Blog Association's Horror Host blogathon, for which I am doing a piece on my favorite TV ghoul, Sammy Terry's Nightmare Theatre.  It's going to take some time and effort to do them up right.  So, for the interim, here's something that takes no effort to speak of.  I can't remember why it occurred to me, but I think seeing movie stars in the bathtub is fun.

The classic gangster in the tub ... cigar, drink, newspaper and fan ...
(Edward G. Robinson in "Key Largo")

This little piggy will go to market clean!
(Bob Hope in "Son of Paleface")
*This pic is courtesy of our very own Ivan of Thrilling Days etc.*
I believe he has a large framed version on his living room wall

He doesn't look too happy -- and boy, what scummy water!
(Clint Eastwood in "High Plains Drifter")

A modern gangster's bubble bath ... cigar, drink , AC and a TV remote
(Al Pacino in "Scarface")

I'm sure Dana Andrews would rather be looking at Gene Tierney
(Clifton Webb in "Laura")
Sorry, all you hopeful men -- I forgot to mention that it was not about women in the tub, didn't I?  Well, just for the male readers, here's something anyway...

She looks a lot better out of the tub than in
(Jack Nicholson and nameless ... uh ... ladies in "The Shining")

Tragically, I wasn't able to find a single picture of Errol Flynn in the tub -- now that would be my idea of fun.

  1. Nice new look to your page, Becky! Now, some of those fellows look quite nice in the tub (so why do I feel so dirty). As for Waldo - I am sure he'd rather be looking at himself!

  2. You are so right about Waldo. Thanks for a pic of The Great Flynn on FB! And you know, you feel dirty because you have a dirty mind (like me). Do you really like the new look for the blog? I played around with it last night.

  3. Becks,
You come up with the most clever photo posts and quips. Well done! I chuckled at the last pic but I almost peed myself during The Shining in the final minutes. That maze was scary as 'bleep'.

I like seeing all of the clever horror tributes during Oct. as well.

    1. Thanks, Page -- I know what you mean about The Shining -- I also suffered from incontinence, only what scared me the most were Danny's ride through the hallways and those two little girls -- EECK! Had nightmares!

  4. Okay. When did Clint Eastwood ever look happy? When?

I'm a shower gal myself. Feel funny singing in the bathtub like Tweety Pie.

This post is an unexpected treat.

    1. Yes, the last time I remember Clint looking happy was when he was on "Rawhide". Thanks, CW, I'm glad you enjoyed this little tribute to naked men...

  5. Yes...all guys in the tubs...thanks Becky! I would think a good follow-up post would be bubbles that got out of control as in THE THRILL OF IT ALL and PALM SPRINGS WEEKEND.

    1. Funny Rick -- you also made me think of the scene in Mister Roberts where Jack Lemmon explodes a firecracker in the laundry and the mass of bubbles fill the hallway!

  6. That really is some scummy-looking water that Clint is bathing in.

    1. Too true -- and assuming Cliff had already washed his upper half, he still looks pretty scummy too!

  11. Becky, I love your blog's new look with the varied purple tones, and I love your 6 male stars in the tub! Too bad Adrien Brody isn't among them - or John Lennon in A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (one of my favorites!), but you can't have everything! :-) Sorry I've been kinda scarce, but with deadlines, our trip to NYC for the NY Comic Con (pix coming soon) and 2 different Sweet Sixteen parties and tons of cleaning and writing to do, it's been busy here at Team Bartilucci HQ! Anyway, your post had me smiling, Big Sis!

    1. That said, Becks, there's a swell picture of Adrien Brody wet and half-naked in THE AFFAIR OF THE NECKLACE! :-)

    2. PIX coming?!! Alright! And please don't tell me about a half-naked Adrien Brody -- I think I'm starting to drool!
