The Sign Says It ...

Yes, that's enervation ... the kind of exhaustion that comes from crunching numbers every month while attempting to pay the bills.  Well, some things have to go, and my internet service is one of them.  It's a blow, but if I've learned anything on this earthly plane, it is that nothing stays the same forever.   Someday ... (please insert your own fantasy here -- eg. my prince will come, the economy will re-start,  I'll win the lottery, etc.).

Remember W.C. Fields as Mr. Micawber in Dickens' Oliver Twist?

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds, result -- happiness.
Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty one pounds, result -- misery."

Is that a great nutshell explanation of finances, or what?!  Take care, my movie friends.  Periodic updates will appear here at ClassicBecky's Brain Food, and of course someday ... (insert fantasy here).

  1. So sorry to miss your charming company. Perhaps your local library has internet available to patrons. It's a great way to save and still keep in touch. Best of luck and warmest wishes for that annual income of 21 pounds.

    1. Our library is a pain to try to write on -- one hour at a time, long lines waiting, etc. But I will try that or a friend's computer, something like that, once in a while to keep in touch ... Thanks for the warm wishes

  2. Becky, I can sympathize with your need to set financial priorities, in the past I found myself choosing between the internet and other elements vital to life. I made use of the computers at my local library, as Jacqueline suggested, by first typing my text at home and copying it onto a disk. I was then able to upload my text at the library, copy and paste to my (then) blog and it worked with little aggravation. If you find it it too much trouble or inconvenience, I hope we'll hear from you if you find an alternative. My best wishes to you, Becky, take care and know you are in our thoughts.

    1. Thanks for the tips, Gypsy. If I can do that, maybe I will be around sometimes.

Yesterday I couldn't wish you a happy birthday, fellow Crab, so here it goes, a little late, but full of good wishes!
    Kisses!

  5. So sad Becky. Do send word periodically and I wish the best for a brighter future fo you. On a lighter note, W.C. also said he spent half his money on alcohol, gambling, and women - and the other half he wasted.

    1. I love that quote! I love Fields -- maybe I should follow his advice. Pay for the fun stuff and use the loose change for the waste -- LOL!

  6. Sad is right, Becky. I have tears in my eyes, Becky. I will miss you. Please keep in touch somehow. Send me an email when you can, maybe from the library computer or whatnot.

You have to do what you can do. That's about the size of it. Take good care my friend.

  8. Becky ... I understand and yet I am still sad to see you go. Please stay in touch whenever possible. If you live near your community college, check out their Library or computing lab. I know our library has a computer lab open to the public, so this could be a good alternative to your local library. In the meantime, I'll just think of this as an extended vacation so I can enable my own denial.

    1. CFB, I love how you handle denial -- I'll have to practice that! that's a great idea about a college library for computer access. Our public library stinks in that capacity, but we have lots of community colleges and IUPUI as well. Hope to be back sooner than I think right now ...

  9. Becky!

You were so lovely to me when I was first accepted in the CMBA. I will definitely miss you and I hope you'll be able to update and write when time allows.

    Good luck!

  10. Becky, if somehow you're reading this, you know I'm saddened to see that you're forced to do without your internet service! It's amazing how these little enjoyments turn out to be more important than any of us could have realized. I'm hoping and praying that that things will improve for you in every way. You're always welcome to communicate with me via good old "snail mail," if you like (I know I sent you my address). Good luck, dear friend and Big Sis; keep us posted when you can!
